10 Attachments For Excavators To Supercharge Your Productivity

These attachments for excavators pack a punch on site, making light work of tough tasks. All our attachment tools are ready for rental in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and regional NSW so call Orange Hire if you need one for our next project.

Our top 10 excavator attachments for hire:

1. Rock breaker attachment

Hydraulic hammers or rockbreakers have been around since the sixties and are an indispensable tool for construction and mining operations. This hydraulic excavator is able to smash through hard rock with ease, and a hydraulic rock breaker attachment breaks apart concrete and other tough materials, making light work of demo and excavation projects. Our hammer attachments fit excavators up to 50T and we’ve got a range of different hitch dimension/sizing configurations available.

2. Compaction plate attachment

Compaction plates or trench compactors are the quickest way to flatten and compact fill, making them great for trenches, backfilling, retaining walls, pipelines and more. Orange Hire stocks compaction plates to suit 4.5T to 30T excavators and our units work on both vertical and inclined surfaces. Vibrating compaction plates force the soil particles closer together for more efficient compaction and compactor plates are a great choice when a roller or trench compactor is just too impractical for the job.

3. Auger drives, drills & post hole borers

Drilling holes for posts, signs, piles, footings or foundations is a common requirement for many jobs. This is where a post hole digger can speed things up, drilling a hole with a powerful auger drive and saving you time and effort. Suitable for 0.8t – 35t excavators, our post hole earth drills are ideal for boring through soil, clay and rock, with different types suitable for specific jobs. Call our team for advice on the best auger size, hydraulic flow and RPM to suit your site.

4. Rock grab attachment

Hydraulic grabs or grapples are an extension of your arm: their grabbing ‘hand’ picks up everything from rocks to logs, scrap, broken material and more. Wide opening jaws shift bulky items easily, and these grabs are right at home on excavation, building and landscaping sites across the country. Orange Hire has a range of grab attachments for your excavator, with plenty stocked in our yards in NSW, QLD and VIC.

5. Tilt buckets

The original and best! An excavator bucket attachment is designed for digging trenches and holes, moving bulk earth and a whole lot of other tasks. It’s indispensable, and it is your default attachment when hiring an excavator. Buckets come in a wide array of types, including mud buckets, rock buckets, and skeleton or sieve buckets. Our tilt buckets are designed to tilt 45 degrees both left and right, and suit machinery from 2t to 30t. This flexible side-to-side movement increases productivity and functionality of your excavator, making it ideal for grading, backfilling, slope finishing and more.

6. Multi-grab bucket attachment

The multi grab bucket is a versatile alternative to hydraulic grapples and five finger grabs. It outperforms other fixed or hydraulic finger grab attachments, making light work of demolition, rock placing and tree work. Orange Hire has introduced the new MK3 hydraulic grab bucket into our hire fleet specifically for contractors that need superior control and manoeuvrability on site. This attachment is your go-to tool for lifting steel beams, purlins, placing rocks or landscaping components, tree and shrub work and more.

7. Rock saw attachment

Rocksaws are the perfect addition to your excavator when you need to cut through tough rock. Hiring a rock saw will help you cut reinforced concrete, road surfaces and quarry through rock surfaces with ease. The high powered rotating blade is diamond-tipped so it can handle granite, limestone, sandstone and more. Orange Hire stocks a range of rock saws to suit 3.5T – 30T excavators, so no matter what size your next job is, we have the saw to suit your needs.

8. Ripper attachment

A ripper attachment is a versatile piece of equipment which can be used for many applications. It can help to pry out rocks, rip through the tough ground or breakthrough other tough materials. This simple static attachment is basically a massive sharp finger that rakes across a surface, dislodging tough rock, paving or asphalt by concentrating the excavator’s power to one specific point. Made from high strength steel this attachment is essential for demolition work.

9.Pulveriser attachment9. Pulveriser

A pulveriser attachment is used in crushing concrete slabs to remove reo bar so concrete can be recycled. This makes it somewhat of a specialist attachment, but one that is a key addition to the toolkit for material recyclers and demolition contractors. In most cases, this is used in lieu of a crusher bucket. Pulverisers combine a fixed and a moving jaw, disintegrating concrete and freeing the reo which can be sorted and collected on site, saving time later.

10. Compaction wheel attachment

Soil compaction is an important part of the construction process, and iring a quality compaction wheel will increase efficiency and ensure the job is done right. The soil compaction process is critical for the support of structural bodies such as building foundations, roadways, walkways, and general trench filling. Compaction wheels are often seen in trench construction work due to their compact size and shape.
